Overrunning Clutch
I probably need to go on and get one of these because the momentum problem when using the tiller or the bush hog is a real problem. The momentum was so strong using the tiller last week till it almost pushed me over an embankment. I do have one question, however. Does the clutch change the overall a...

Re: 276d cranking very fast with no compression
I don't know your model, but I had a similar problem with my 1810 after a friend(?) used it and parked it back under the barn shelter. It turned over and nothing happened. I discovered he had not pushed the kill-lever back in when he shut it down.

Charging Light on YM1810
Some time back I posted that the charging light had lit up on my YM1810 and asked for thoughts. Got back exactly what I asked for--instructions on exactly how to diagnose the problem. I kept using the tractor getting ready for Springtime till I could get a multimeter to check things out with. The tr...

Re: connecting tiller problems
I bough a quick-hitch implement at Wal-Mart bout 10 years ago. It's a hatchet. When I hook up my 1400 Tiller, I first put the top-link attachment on the tractor (the triangular attachment that requires two hitch-pins), then I loosen the check-chains on the lift arms so they have plenty of play, then...

Re: yanmar steering problem
I replaced the steering mechanism with a rebuilt unit from Hoye. It has worked very well for three years now and I have little doubt it'll last about as long as I do. When you start the job, be prepared to a good bit of cussing while you pull and re-install all that sheet metal. Auto zone had a Pull...

Re: yanmar tiller tine patterns
You most certainly want the standard rotation. Standard rotation allows the tiller to roll over roots, etc., rather than snag under and try to pull then out.

Re: Left brake pedal stiff & won't return
I run into the grease fitting problem every year when I grease the harrows, i.e., some fitting will not allow grease through. I have discovered that, if I take the fitting out of the harrow and put it in the grease gun, in lots of cases it will blow whatever has the grease hole stopped up out of the...

Re: 1810 Alternator Indicator
Alan, is the Voltage Regulator the square box with heat fins that sits on the firewall? I have heard it called a rectifier, but I bet it's the same thing.

Re: 1810 Alternator Indicator
Winston, thanks for getting back (you too Alan). I am not real familiar with a dynamo. Could you give me a little bit of a description and where it's located? I am thinking it must be the little square box mounted on the fire wall that has the little heat loss fins on it.

1810 Alternator Indicator
My alternator indicator on the dash of my 1810 has started to glow. At low RPMs it dims and will, at idle, go off, however, as I up the RPM's it glows brightly. Being here in Middle Georgia (near Macon and Milledgeville), I finished the Deer Season by turning the ignition off immediately after crank...

Re: YM1810D PTO Gear Issue , Help Needed
I am an 1810 owner for about 15 years. When I first got the tractor, I had a very similar problem with the PTO. Turned out to be the clutch, just as the other folks are saying. When a mechanic friend and I broker the tractor apart, the clutch plate was rusted badly and the throw-out bearing was a ru...

Re: degreaseing engine
Floridaboy, I too need to clean my engine in my 1810. When I was a kid i saw my dad spray an auto engine with kerosene and then water hose the tar out it. Could such be done with a diesel?

Re: PTO won't stop
Let me try this again. Put it in PTO Gear and look at it to see the speed it turns at. Now, take it out of gear and look at it. If it has a slower turn to it, it is most like like due to fluid pressure, etc. In this case, you should be able to put on a work glove and, carefully, stop it with your ha...

Re: PTO won't stop
Grab it with your hand (carefully!) and see if you can stop it. If you can, I wouldn't worry about it anymore. MY 1810 has been doing the same thing for the 13 years I've owned it.
