YM 2210 Purchase Opinion

This has been on FB market for a few weeks. I have not contacted seller yet. The attachment details all I know about it. Looking for a project if purchased for the right price. Curious if a clean YM2210 has a demand. I can google and see prices in the 4 to 5k. Any advice or opinions appreciated. Tha...

YM 186 Rod End Cap Bolt Torque Specs.

I am trying to verify the rod end cap bolt torque specs. Seems to be some conflicting info. One tech manual info states approx 16-20 ft lbs, other one 32-34 ft lbs approx. or a combination of both. I plasti gauged at 20ft lbs and got a .002 tolerance on all 3 cylinders which is in middle of toleranc...

Re: YM 186 Timing Mark location?

Winston, I kept reading and reading. I found what I was looking for in an old post with picture of yours that I have attached. Buried behind the oil sending unit per your picture is that arrow. I took a closer look with some brake cleaner and a brush and there it was. I had no idea that the mark wou...

Re: YM 186 Timing Mark location?

That makes perfect sense . Thanks for the suggestion. Now that you have mentioned that I need to adjust valves after a few hours of run time after engine work. I assume I could place #1 TDC/compression stroke, while doing valve adjustment then start cleaning/searching near the pulley #1 marker line ...

Re: YM 186 Timing Mark location?

Winston, I zip tied a piece of scotch brite to a paint stick and cleaned off crank v pulley with engine running. Pictures show what I found. Two marks per cylinder with each set spaced at probably 120 degrees apart. I assume one mark is TDC and other a numerical degree BTDC indicating correct timing...

YM 186 Timing Mark location?

I am wanting to check the injector timing on my YM 186. I have read all I can about the procedure and understand the steps. In all of the reading and googling I cannot seem to locate the timing marks. Some information says it is on flywheel so I took a small oval inspection plate off on right side j...

Re: Sudden Excessive Blow By

Well I reassemble this engine again. I added a new piston with the existing rings that had less than 2 hours use. I cleaned injectors , had them pop tested. All three were popping at 2400psi which I believe is the correct pressure. The patterns were good and no leakage. I pressure tested all 3 cylin...

Re: Sudden Excessive Blow By

Winston thanks for your reply. I found the problem . The piston groove/flange was cracked per the picture. I should have removed rings first thing to inspect. I studied that piston several times but when I remove the rings it revealed itself. I am glad knowing what the problem is but now concerned w...

Re: Sudden Excessive Blow By

I removed head, removed Number 3 piston that had 160 psi. I was hoping to find a very obvious problem but found nothing. Head gasket was perfect, head appears fine, oil and coolant clean. Piston , rings and sleeve appear to be same as other 2 cylinders. Valve ,rocker, lifters seem fine. Nothing stan...

Re: Sudden Excessive Blow By

I did another cold start in about 20 degree temperature. It started in the usual cold diesel start way. It repeated the previous cold start. It seems as tho it fires up and runs for a bit on 2 cylinders and then the 3 cylinder kicks in with lots of smoke and what seems to me, too loud of that diesel...

Re: Sudden Excessive Blow By

Aaron, Thanks for the reply. No starting fluid used just glow plug and good battery. I have not checked for bubbles in radiator yet, got a little frustrated with it so parked it and walked away and started researching the problem. Will check for cross contamination in coolant/oil . No I did not re t...

Re: Sudden Excessive Blow By

Well Im back to a blow by problem again. After what I thought was a successful repair the problem is back. I used the tractor for about an hour after repair and all appeared well back in December. I started tractor yesterday morning in 20 degree weather. It started as expected for cold weather but n...
