4wd front oil plug/dipstick level

Postby Jayb » Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:22 pm

The front axle on my 1610d has a screw in bolt/dipstick system, my question is do I screw in to check/set level or check without screwing in? There seems some confusion about this online which is why I ask , I guess the old owner set it screwed in as this is the level set, if out resting on the top of the threads the oil doesn’t reach the gauge.

All I can tell you for sure is the 195/240 factory operation manual states to rest the screw in dip stick on the threads when checking the oil. Whether or not that applies to all models I cannot say.
