IS this 220D worth the price?

What size tractor do I need? What is a good model to buy? What size mower do I need?

IS this 220D worth the price?

Postby taluswood » Sun Jul 28, 2013 9:37 am

HI all, thinking of getting a yanmar. Found this 220d an hour away. price seems a little high to me, dealer seems honest, but it's hard to find comparable info on another 220d with these specs. Just saw a 336 with backhoe and other implements for $15k so not sure. Any thoughts, warnings?!
Thanks in Advance

Here is a listing of the grey market tractors. The 220 would be pretty comparable to the 1702. http://www.hoyetractor.com/cost.htm No idea what your price is or condition of the tractor. :?: Is the dealer a vn dealer?

HI Winston, thanks for the link This is the tractor http://westernmass.craigslist.org/grq/3930842578.html link. He is asking $12,000 it has backhoe and fel. says its only 400 hours but seeing as it's 1990 that would mean the owner had only used it for 20 hours a year? I had heard some yanmars rolled over on the tacho, so maybe it has 1400 hours?
Not sure what a vn dealer is?

That is a nice looking tractor. Those backhoes are expensive. Forget what I said about a vn dealer. The 220 in an American sold tractor. A vn tractor is a grey market Yanmar refurbished in Vietnam. They don't have a real good reputation. The 220 would not be one of those. Maybe you could get the name of the one owner and speak to him and find out more about the tractor. If I were going to invest $12000 I believe I might try.

That's a great idea, i'll try giving a call. It drives nice and seems like a good size for me to use in the woods and on our farm. Parts availability is a concern. Do you think it's worth the $12k? He's got all the original manuals and says the old owner was a mechanic who took good care of it.

I just wouldn't venture to price it. I will give you this to look at so you might know about what a pretty new used one might cost. The 220 may be a little more tractor than this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yanmar-SC2450-C ... 43bde3482f

Still a lot of parts available for the 220. You can do a little browsing here. http://www.hoyetractor.com/mm5/merchant ... y_Code=220 Anything for the backhoe or loader will probably have to be through a hydraulic shop or just doing a little searching.
