Auger for 2002d?

Postby wildbitshomestead » Sat Aug 01, 2020 11:03 pm

I bought a Speeco auger from Wilco and got it home, installed it, attached the 12” auger bit, and it seems as though the tractor won’t raise the 3 point high enough to get the auger off the ground. Tractor is a YM2002D.
Am I doing something wrong or is this auger just not compatible with this tractor? Manual says it’s a cat 1/2.
Here’s a link to the auger:

Cannot tell for sure from picture but looks like your side links are in the top hole, if not, they should be to get maximum lift. Does your lower lift arms have more than one set of holes where attaching side links?

I had a 2002D for several years. I can remember having to do some twerking on it to use a post hole digger but my old memory won't tell me just what I did. I do know with a long auger the range of lift can be a problem. You will want it to barely clear the ground when fully raised in order to be able to dig the full depth of the auger.

Are you attaching at the bottom hole as shown in picture?

This is my setup. Now I’m wondering if maybe I need shorter side arms that lift the bottom arms.

Move your top link on the digger to the lowest hole on your tractor. Might not even have to go to the bottom hole.
