Valve timing 2210

I put a new crankshaft in my motor, and after disassembling it, realized I hadn't looked at the position of the cam gear in relation to the crank gear before taking them off. I looked in my manual, but couldn't find anything addressing this. If i mate them so that the 0 on the cam gear fits between the two 0's on the crank gear, I presume that will give me the correct valve (and injector) timing. Is this correct?

Never mind-I found it... However, speaking of timing, how about injection timing? The manual just says that Yanmar injectors don't go "out of time", so no need for adjustment. But what if some time in the past someone had fiddled with it, or replaced the pump? I looked for an article about it, but couldn't find one. I know that the shims are the method of changing the timing, but is there a way to find out if they are pumping at the proper time? I've got the motor sitting on the bench, so now is the perfect time, so to speak.

I doubt you need to do this but here is the I&T instructions. Takes two posts to get them all and they are out of order. Maybe you can figure it out.
