2210 knuckle disassembly

Postby MizzouBeach » Wed Apr 22, 2020 3:43 pm

Iwanted to check the gears in the 4WD spindle case on my tractor since i seem to be taking apart other front end systems, and am in the middle of taking the spindle assembly apart. I removed the nut on top of the steering arm (I'm not sure of the correct terminology for some of these things), and then drove the spindle down far enough to get a puller on the steering arm to separate it from the spindle, but I'm not sure if I can drive the spindle down to get the bearing out or not without doing damage to anything. The manual doesn't seem to give any detailed information on this. Has anyone had experience with this setup that they could share?

Not sure what bearing you are talking about. Have you separated the knuckle housings? (upper and lower)

If you have the steering arm off they should separate. https://www.hoyetractor.com/Yanmar_knuckle_seal.htm

In the drawing on page 50-40-5 of the manual, I'm Trying to get the spindle (D in the drawing) out, as well as the bearing (M) so I can see the bevel gear (K) and the drive shaft bevel pinion (gear) (T) to check for wear. Am I diving too deep into the front axle?

I have separated the knuckle housings; I did this before removing the steering arm. I removed the steering arm after separating them, on the bench.

I don't have access to the manual you are referring to. Maybe identify on this parts drawing. I am old and slow. https://www.hoyetractor.com/CTGY/20104WDINT.htm

Sorry, this is the manual I got from Hoye.
In this drawing, it would be: I'm Trying to get the spindle (1 in the drawing) out, as well as the bearing (15) so I can see the bevel gear (9) and the drive shaft bevel pinion (gear) (9) to check for wear. Am I diving too deep into the front axle?

I got it apart, and found that I need yet some more parts, darn it. I took the other one apart also, and it looks okay.
