2820D transmission light

Postby Laynes69 » Tue Mar 10, 2020 6:03 pm

Since I bought my tractor, it has been cold. While I first thought my decompression cable was working it wasn't, still tractor never failed to fire in 20 degree weather. Anyhow, when the tractor is cold, the transmission indicator light comes on when the tractor first starts in the cold, once running for about 30 seconds it comes off. I have noticed that in the 4th gear range, the powershift can be a little jumpy when shifting. Is there anything I can look at to smooth out the shifting a little and do I worry about the light when cold?

Have you changed your oil recently and did you replace your spin on filter (with the correct one) and clean the internal screen?

No I haven't. The tractor only had about 10 hours on it since it was sold. The fluids looked good.

If you are not sure if it was changed when the tractor was sold then I would start with changing the oil & filter and clean the screen.

Where is the screen located for the transmission (I assume)? Also what would be the best fluid to use?
