YM336d bypass broken 4wd

Postby frogeye100 » Sun Feb 09, 2020 2:04 pm

Hi there,
I have a old YM336d with broken front wheel drive.
Was abused and run dry. I added lube to try it and it knocks and groans from the front diff. I don't need 4wd here in Texas, so I am wondering what the most straight forward way to disconnect the front differential from the front wheels? Your thoughts and suggestions will be much appreciated. She isn't pretty but sure runs nice!

Not sure of anything. Maybe remove #46. This is assuming all gears are good in knuckle housing. Hoping you have good lube in there. Those bearings have got to continue to perform. https://www.hoyetractor.com/CTGY/3364WDINT-NEW.htm

The wheel brgs are good, I guess I just need to remove the front axles or ring gears.

If #46 is taken out axle will no longer turn unless you engage 4 wheel drive.

Yes, I would remove #46 and the shafts #45 and then the driveshaft #27. That way nothing will ever get in a bind or cause problems if you accidentally shifted into 4wd... unless the gears #66/52 are the gears causing the noise.
