1610d lighting issue

Postby Jayb » Mon Jan 27, 2020 3:37 pm

New here with a newly acquired 1610d, I’m based in South Wales, UK.
I hope someone can help?
I Have an intermittent problem with the lights and horn, both work fine 50% of the time but then some days they work only with key turned to start but go out when engine is started?
Any ideas where to start looking?

Thanks

It sounds to me like your ignition switch is acting up. During the 50% of the time it is not working- do any of the electrical dash items function correctly?

Yes, starts runs, Rev counter and gauges work fine, no dash lights, horn or lights. I jumped on it this evening same again, lights until starting then lights go out, I left it for 5 minutes to warm up and when I came back lights were back on and stayed on during use.
Do they need to warm up? Gas powered!

Does your tractor have the lights and horn on the same multi-function switch (some had it as an option)?

Thank you for replying,
Horn & lights are separate, horn on left lights on right with double pull up switch.
I’ve tried fiddling about to see if there is any loose wire or connection but nothing obvious.

Maybe a bad ground somewhere? It has to just be a bad connection somewhere but I'm not really sure what the horn, headlights, and dash lights have in common that the gauges don't. You might just have to experiment with a test light and see where you are losing the connection (test for lost grounds and +)

Solved! Ignition switch issue, I can fix by turning key 1mm back after start up :D

Glad you got it figured out. I would think that would also effect the gauges but, regardless, glad you figured it out.
