leaking temp gauge

Postby wgriffin » Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:36 pm

This should be a simple fix, but I thought I would ask before I start turning a wrench on it.
I just installed a temperature gauge, but it is leaking around where the probe comes out of the top of the fitting. Not around the threads. What can I do to fix this?

That probe piece is a tapered fitting. Sometimes on stuff like that you can loosen and tighten several times to get it to seat better. Just dont overtighten it or you can deform the sealing area.

Thank you.
The sealing area, the enlarged ring around the probe, seemed too short and therefore would not seat when the threads were tightened down. I made a washer to take up the difference and that solved the issue.
