YM165D tachometer/hourmeter ratios

Postby mctank » Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:38 am

I am currently having Nichols Instruments in Greensboro, NC repair the tach/hourmeter from my YM165D. They have requested the cable and hourmeter ratios. It is a Nippon Seiki mechanical instrument. Appreciate any assistance you can provide.

I have never seen that anywhere but you should be able to just turn your engine over (by hand) X times and see how many times the cable turns.

That would give you the engine to tach cable ratio which I guess is what you are really wanting.

Back to my first statement, good luck with that, I'll be surprised if you can come up with it. I am supposing that would be how many turns per second? at 2000rpm or something along those lines.

My hour meter says that 6 minutes at 2400 RPM is equal to 1/10 of an hour. That's 40 revolutions per second for the hours meter to record in real time, or 14,400 revolutions for every 1/10 increment.
