Yanmar F265D engine does not shut down with key off

Postby audigger48 » Wed Jun 12, 2019 6:15 pm

Engine does not shut down when key is turned off.
Issue started intermittent and became more frequent.
Engine would stop when I touched wires around "glow relay".
Replaced glow relay, soldered spade connectors to wire.
Now fuel cut-off lever always remains in forward, i.e. on position.
Engine starts and runs normally. Can only shut down by letting out clutch and holding brake [not good for clutch]
Can't find schematic or other service info...
Anyone have any ideas of where to go from here?

That shutoff lever is pulled by a little motor. I would be sure it had power to it at the right times and that the connections were good at that plug. You can also take apart that little gearbox and be sure the switches inside are good. Worst case you can just put a cable on it like all of the older Yanmars.
