Yanmar EX 450 PTO engages early

Postby Shane » Sun Jun 02, 2019 9:09 am

When I push the clutch and put the PTO in gear, it goes in gear, but comes on immediately, before I release the clutch. Can this be adjusted?

Your EX450 has a two stage clutch designed to act just as you described. When adjusted properly, clutch pedal all the way down you can engage the pto and also the transmission gears if wanted. When the pedal comes up a small amount the pto will engage with first clutch, at that point you can still shift transmission gears even though the pto is turning. A little further up with the clutch pedal and you activate the second clutch and the transmission is engaged to move the tractor. This is what is know as a live pto.

"If" Your pto is turning with the clutch pushed "all" the way down then something is wrong.
