I am not certain. My research shows there could be one of two sizes. Either a 45-70-12 seal or a 50-70-10 seal. shaft size should be either 45mm (1.772") or 50mm (1.969"). If you can use the micrometer on it you should be able to know which. Don't try to borrow any money on what I am saying, hopefully something to get you pointed in the right direction.

Hmmmmmm, sure sounds like the shaft is undersized. That would be about .005" undersized. Any signs of grinding on it?

If you click on the Attachements box below, then just follow directions, you should be able to load pictures.

Might be hard to do but have you tried using your caliper to measure the inside diameter of the seal. Also how is the fit when the shaft slides through the seal? Is there a number on the seal?

hard to tell how it slides thru the seal till I get another one as it contacts the outer bearing pretty much at the same time and has to be pressed into the bearing

but if it's supposed to be 45 mm then it is definitely under sized as this measures 44.87 mm

Maybe try a 44x70-12 seal. Just throwing ideas out there. Any number on your seal??

The 135/155 parts manual showns a TC45-70-12. Hoyes shows their seal fitting the 135, 155, 1300 and 1401 and maybe others.

Finally fixed , it turns out the JD shop ground on the axle and it's a little out of round even though they claim all they used was steel wool. Anyway the measurements are off so went with the smaller of measurements and got a 44×70×8 seal and it's working. Would have been nice if their highly trained tech or his service manager could read a micrometer this could have been fixed 2 months and a few hundred dollars ago
