front axle bearings

Postby mrubycomo » Sat May 04, 2019 11:41 am

I bought new bearings for the drop box on the 3810d and the ones I received are sealed bearings the ones I removed are not. Do I need to remove the seals in order to get proper lubrication to the bearings?

Your title reads front axle bearings but you are saying drop box. Not sure which bearings you are talking about. If it is the drop box I would remove the seals. those bearings are covered in fluid.

I would first check with the supplier to assure you have the correct bearings.

I know from my work experience that some company's stock sealed bearings and not open bearings just to same on inventory space. Seals are easily popped out. Probably a good idea to check with the supplier anyway.

All of our bearings come sealed now for that reason. If you are replacing an open bearing you just pop out the little plastic seal. It just snaps in.
