YM2000 REBUILD 2 cylinder Rebuild 2TR20A

Postby nothead14 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 2:53 pm

I'm rebuilding my yanmar having to replace sleeves. What is the best way to install sleeves? Dry ice? Porta power? What to lub the cylinder with while installing sleeve. Does my sleeve have any o-rings? The new pistons have the pins but does it include the top rod bushing for the pin?
Do I need to replace the tappets while down? That's another $200. Would it be a mistake not to?
Thanks for all the help. Very thankful.

I have not replaced sleeves on a Yanmar but since the sleeves are installed with O-rings I would think with all surfaces clean you should be able to install them with a wooden block and hammer. oil the O-rings before installation. Probably wrong, just my thinking. https://www.hoyetractor.com/PROD/2000-SLEEVE.htm May already know but your liners should protrude above the block .0028-.0039".

I believe the rod bushing is separate. https://www.hoyetractor.com/PROD/PPB-4450.htm

Not sure what you are calling the tappets, if the rocker arms I do not think it should be necessary unless you are showing wear.

Never worked with sleeves, but as with any press-fit parts, put internals, (common sense), in the freezer for a day and they will slip right in. Only replace parts that are worn; however I am lazy and cheap :?
