10 amp motor fuse

Postby matt@callaes.com » Sat Aug 11, 2018 6:10 pm

I have yanmar 424 that keeps blowing the 10 amp motor fuse. it only has 110 hours on it. does not need to be under load to blow but blows most often under load.

Don't suppose you have a wiring diagram? I have no idea what the "motor" fuse covers.

What happens when it blows the fuse? The only thing that would stop a diesel engine would be to shut off an electric fuel pump or solenoid.

I'm curious also, what was the problem?

I was having the same issue every now and then. I believe it might be the safety switch under the seat. If you hit a bump or briefly take your weight off of the seat while the forward or reverse pedal is being pressed, it tends to blow the fuse. I discovered this recently when I developed a shorted wire to this switch and couldn't touch the pedals without it killing the engine and usually blowing the fuse in the process.
