Ym1500 torque spec's and info

Postby Hnewman144 » Mon Feb 12, 2018 4:27 pm

Well I'm finally about to start tearing the engine down in my 1500. It has been burning oil for long enough. I need a big favor if anyone is willing to help. I'm going to do an inframe kit with pistons at the very minimum, so I am about to make a big ticket purchase from hoye this week for this old thing and I'm pushed tight for money right now and a $50 service manual is out of my budget on top of the $600 plus dollars I'm about to spend with hoye for all the parts. Before I get bashed... I know it sounds crazy but I have came up with just enough money to buy all the parts that I'll most likely need. Can anyone provide me with the torque spec's for a simple inframe over haul? Head, rods, oil plate, rocker arms, etc. Also head and block warpage limits and cylinder sleeve tolerances. It would be greatly appreciated!

The final torque is 114 -116 lbs. This is the way we do them 40lbs-60lbs-80lbs and then 114-116lbs. The Rocker arm support 58-72lbs. Rods 33-36lbs.

I would do pan bolts goodntight.

Thanks Winston. Have it tore down and low and behold...broke piston. The section between the top ring and second ring was broke in two places so that peice was just kinda flopping around in between those two rings. One ring was also broke. Everything else was in pretty great condition. That explains the oil burning that has been driving me crazy!

Do you ever start it with "starting fluid"? That' will usually break a piston like that.
