removing brake drum but can't use puller

Postby viking mermaid » Wed Feb 07, 2018 9:05 pm

Changing the brakes on my YM336D tractor. Brake shaft seal leaks (oil all over the place) so seal needs to be replaced too. The brake drum does not have anything for the puller to latch on to. No holes what so ever. How am I going to pull the drum out :?: Am I missing a tool?? Do I have to take the entire back end of the tractor apart :?:

We typically weld a hook or tab to the back of the drum (not where the shoes run). Then pull the drum off and then grind it back off before re-installation.

Is there a drain plug in the bottom of the brake housing on that model? If so, you might just remove it and let it leak, depending on how bad the leak is. (There is a reason they put drain plugs there  )
