yanmar compression

i am trying to find out the compression psi should be on a ym155D, it smokes really bad so i did a compression test and both 1&2 cylinder are running 290 psi. any thoughts?

Should be a little over 500psi.

A little more research shows a 2ne68 engine to have 470psi so the 155 may not be over 500. I am sure your 290psi is low. I have a copy of the repair manual for the 135/155 but if compression numbers are shown in it I am unable to find them. I am sure you know you have the 2tr13a engine.

Thinking the 165 has basically the same engine as your 155, might read over this old thread. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6077&hilit=165+compression
