Rings and pistons are new, approximately 10 minutes of run time. Planning to put in new liners.

What did your old liner measure at the point where you checked and got the .125" end gap?

This was measured in large area of the cylinder so around 3.5435".

The 3.543 is within specs for a new liner. No idea how you could have .125" ring clearance after a 10 minute run but something isn't adding up here.

New liner specs are 3.5433- 3.5447"

It sounded to me like he filed the new rings to match the gap on the old rings. That gap will leak a lot of compression.

I have a 1720D and am experiencing the identical problem. ran fine and parked overnite. now it won't fire. drained and refilled tank with clean fuel; replaced fuel filter; has relatively new injector pump (20 hours ago); primed pump and fuel lines to injectors; removed injectors, and cleaned and checked; replaced cylinder gasket; still get nothing but fuel vapor from exhaust??

I'm dead in the water. about to do a compression test and will post results.

Did you use any starting fluid when you tried to start it? Lately I have had a bunch of calls where a fuel related problem ends up in an overhaul because of starting fluid.
