2210D 4wd problems/won't shift

Postby dmoo1971 » Sat Jun 18, 2016 4:32 pm

I am looking for a. Dropbox for a 2210D if anyone knows where I might find one let me know. Hoye is working on it as well.
im working in 2wd mode for now but today I had another problem don't know if it's related tractor would not change ranges. I was going to change ranges from 3 to 4 to drive a ways and after I took it out of 3 it wouldn't go into any other range I finally got it into three by pushing hard and turning off the tractor engine. Pto shifts speeds perfectly? Not sure what problem might be or if rrpelate to Dropbox problem don't see how they could be when I'm in 2wd mode

Do you have the right amount of freeplay in the clutch pedal?

I would think if it was a clutch problem I would have trouble shifting pto as well

Wasn't stated, is there a grinding of gears or just won't go in gear? Turning off engine makes it sound as if there might have been grinding.

Won't go into gear with clutch pushed all the way in. As I shut down with clutch out I could get it into gear

Be patient with an old man. :? Was there any grinding of gears while trying to use the clutch with engine running?

No grinding with clutch pushed in(down) just would not go into gear.

These old Yanmars have spur gears and no synchronizers so the gear teeth will sometimes not line up and might have to let out on the clutch a little to get the needed alignment. Thinking you already know that. :) Assuming the power shift gears are shifting normal? If so, may have to dig deeper.

Once range is locked in power shift is perfect. I have tried all combinations of clutching and rpm. I think I'm gonna pull the Dropbox and take the gear out that drives front axle since 4wd isn't working right now anyway.

Hope it helps but the I don't see the connection between 4 wheel drive and range shift.

I've noticed that sometimes when shifting from 2 to 3 gear on my ym2210d, that it doesn't want to shift. I found that double clutching frees it up every time. Try this and let us know what happens!

I'm going to have to try that on my 2610D. Tried from creep gear to 1st or 2nd and was hard to get...went to 3rd just fine though. Guest depends on where the teeth are lined up?

It was the 4WD causing the problem. I pulled the gear out and it shifts fine. The problem now is that I need a new dropbox (transfer case) and I can't find one anywhere.

Need dropbox(transfer case) for 2210D!!!!

Postby dmoo1971 » Thu Jul 21, 2016 2:41 pm

My dropbox(transfer case) for 4WD is toast. It was having issues in my attempt at fixing I may have made it worse. I live in the Mountains of E TN and I really do need 4WD. I have made calls to all the salvage places and all yanmar dealers and parts places, and no one seems to have one. So MY WORST FEAR OF YANMAR is being realized. I can't get a needed part so my tractor may permanently be a 2WD which means I am going to have to buy another especially before winter. Does anyone know of a 2210D in a salvage yard or junked out. I may actually buy the whole think to rob parts from. I have Hoye working on finding one, but the I don't think the prospects are very good. None in Vietnam right now either. Any ideas are welcome.
