Yanmar 2450 won't stay in high range ! When i go to take off , lever vibrates and jump into low range. Can hold it in high but it won't stay in itself, Any ideas ?? Thanks

Don't know about a 2450, but only an on-sight inspection will help.

Somebody correct me if it could cause damage but as far as I know, it's OK to hold the lever in position with a rope-tie.

I am having the exact same issue with the range lever on Sc2450 yanmar. I started having the issue 6 months after i purchased brand new. It eventually locked in high and broke the range lever from the severe vibration. The dealership i bought it from closed down so i contacted yanmar. They asked me to take it to another dealership and they would repair. The shop cut off the old lever and put a new one in. 4 months later it did the same thing. Range lever is broke and I put it in low gear permanently. I contacted yanmar again and they had no solutions. I had no support. Did anyone ever get a solution to this problem and is yanmar not owning up to this defect?
