I have a 2000 year model FX42D Yanmar. It started running hot on me so I took it to a mecanic and found it to have a cracked head and pin holes in the block cylinder walls. There is a company in Alabama that say they can repair the head and dry sleeve the block. I am wondering if repairs like this will hold up.
Alternatively, I am looking for a used FX42D engine.
regards,
Gary

Fredericks? Been there and I'm sure they do it quite often. But no matter who it is they're going to have to see it and Were exactly the break is and how bad I'm sure.

wondering about how this happened. Did you just purchase the tractor? What might have caused the pin holes in the block? Will just sleeving it solve the pin holes in the block?
Re: Yanmar FX42D with cracked head and engine block
I only had the tractor for 1 year when this happened. I must have got taken.
I don't think repair is an option now. It will cost me $4000 in labor alone.
I spoke with Yanmar and they directed me to their website. They do not and will not support gray market tractors. I couldn't even buy an engine and have it shipped over here.
Other than the engine the tractor is in great shape. I will probably try to sell it off piece by piece. It has an almost new front end loader and new tires.

We buy parts tractors. Contact me if you are interested.

I saw a guy in Portland Oregon that had a bunch of Yanmars that he was parting out. Also try Coldwater tractors in Hoquim Washington state. There is a big importer in Eugene oregon. The only way to find out is to use Google. I would look for a while before selling it for parts. If I had to I would sell the parts myself. There has to be a way to recoup your money!

I would not try to sell it as a 2000 model. They were built from '84 to, I believe, about '90.
