yanmar 2000 the dash temp -oil & other red light

Postby nothead14 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 8:47 pm

When you switch the tractor key to on,should all three lights come on.My temp light does not come on and the bulb is good.Should it come on so I will know it's working or will it only come on when it's too hot.Water was boiling in the plastic reservoir but bulb was burned out. I replaced bulb but I'm don't know how to tell if it's working.Would not come on like the other dash lights did when I switched the key to on.There are three red lights on small panel.

Follow the top hose of the radiator and your see the Temp. switch. Remove the wire and Ground it to the Eng. block and the Water Temp. light should come on. With the key in the on Position.

grounding the wire at the sender tests the lamp and wiring, but the light will only come on when it is overtemp. the later tractors had a test button to do this for you.

"When you switch the tractor key to on,should all three lights come on"

Not on my setup.only the Chg. light and Oil comes on. My guess the boiling water was in the Overflow bottle your refering to. I would check the sending switch. Remove it put it in Boiling water and quickly reinstall it and hook everything up. The light comes on and then goes off when you hook it up your good.

No, the oil light comes on because there is no oil pressure. The charge light comes on because it is not charging. The temp light does NOT come on unless the water is too hot.

Yep, that was what he meant by "switch the tractor key to on".

I have a 2016 Yanmar SA424, and this thread helped me today. I created an account to thank you all. One day I hope to obtain an operator manual.
