Yanmar EX3200 - where does this tube go?

Postby gmanobmo » Thu Feb 11, 2021 1:04 pm

Hi,

I have a 2015Yanmar EX3200 and I just noticed that a rubber tube / hose (right arrow in the picture) that was under my seat is not connected to anything. I looked around and saw that a port or (left arrow), whatever it's called, is open. I assume this hose should connect to this, right? Also, what is this? There is some dirt down in the port which I will try to get out. Just wondering if this has been causing damage.

Thank you.

Griff

I can't make out much from your pictures but is the hose coming from #24 in this drawing? If so, it is a vent hose.

Thanks for the diagram and your reply, Winston. 24 looks like it might be the uncovered tube. I assume the rubber tube (right arrow in the picture) should cover that?

Update: I just looked to see if the rubber tube (arrow on the right) connects to something else but it doesn't so I guess I'll just connect it to the metal tube on the left and call it good.

Thank you.

2/18/21 Update: - Just in case others are reading this - I talked with Yanmar and they said the vent tube on the left is supposed to be open like it is shown in the picture. You don't put the rubber hose / tube on it.

The rubber hose / tube on the right should be connected to something on the bottom (he was having a hard time finding what it is but said there is a port from something) and should be open at the top to vent. I'm going to find where is came off and reconnect it.

Having seen your last picture I would agree. The rubber tube is likely there just to get the vent going downward so moisture cannot enter your housing.

The older YM Yanmars did the same thing just without the hose

Thanks for your reply, Aaron.

So the Yanmar rep I spoke to on the phone said the rubber tube / hose (red arrow on the right) should connect to something else as a vent tube but I couldn't find anything that was uncovered. Just the metal vent tube (left arrow) which makes me think it should be covering that. Do you know?

Thanks.

Sorry I do not know but I agree with Winston that something has to connect to that tube or it would collect water/dirt/bugs. That hose being right there sure seems like the most likely solution but I don't know for 100%. One of the guys on the 'new Yanmar' Tractorbynet forum that has an EX320 might be able to go look at theirs for you though.

Good idea. Will try that.

Thanks.
