YM 2020D with Koyker loader kills engine when in bucket dump motion.

Postby Steamin53 » Thu Dec 03, 2020 1:12 pm

My 2020D has a Koyker 140 loader purchased about 2 years ago from Hoye.

This past weekend I used it to hang a deer overnight and the loader leaked down about 2 feet from full lift position. The loader does respond to the lift command but I find now that when I attempt to "dump" the bucket it loads the engine almost to the point of killing it.

I need some troubleshooting guidance from you folks.

If you have quick disconnects make sure they are plugged tight. Sounds like an obstruction of some kind on dump side.

Thanks Winston I'll check the connectors. Any way to isolate the problem to one of the two dump cylinders if it's a blockage? I suppose I could disconnect both from the bucket while in the retracted state then try to move them in the dump direction and observe the one that doesn't move equally to the one that does (assuming that it's only one circuit that's the problem). If neither move then I think it may be in the control box (I don't know the correct term).

fluid passes through both cylinders with equal pressure in both directions. It is possible one of the cylinders is locking up but much more likely a quick connect not allowing flow.
