Starting Problems 32FX(D)

Postby dixiehilljack » Mon Nov 09, 2020 1:57 pm

Tractor has worked great for a year and a half, started fine, changed from box scraper to snow blower. Wouldn't start back up, turned key nothing happened. Checked connections, everything looked good. Jumped starter solenoid, tractor started, moved to garage. Thought for sure it was starter solenoid, ordered new gear reduction starter. Installed it, turned key, wire from ignition switch to clutch safety switch got so hot melted covering. Replaced wire. Removed new starter, put old one back in, checked procedures on operation of starter solenoid and starter. Contacted A to B on starter solenoid-motor turned over, contacted C to A starter motor spun. From this I'm thinking it's the ignition switch. Thoughts suggestions??

Does this diagram matches your a/b/c wires? https://www.hoyetractor.com/starter-test.htm

If so, there is likely nothing wrong with your starter. When you turn the key to the crank position you should be getting 12 volts at terminal b. If not something in your circuity is amuck. With your wire from switch to clutch safety burned into then it must be going to ground someplace.

Do you have a wiring diagram for the FX32D?

Did some shooting of wires, found out the clutch safety switch shorted out, which caused the hot wires when put in new starter. Replaced burned wire, found shorted wire, ordering clutch safety switch. Starter works great, tractor runs super, ready for winter!
