checking Thermostart for function

Postby ivanhoe357 » Fri Oct 30, 2020 8:13 am

I have two Yanmars, a YM 186D and a YM1610D. With cold weather coming on i'd like to check to see if the Thermostart feature is working on both. Is the best way to do this to pull the air filter hose at the intake just above the Thermostart module and have someone look down in there while you energize the Thermostart at the ignition switch?

Your way should work. I used to just energize mine for 15 or 20 seconds, then just feel around the thermostart area. Should be warm.

Simpler is better! Thanks for the tip, Winston.
