YM240 Hydraulic power loss in loader

Postby rrog » Thu Sep 17, 2020 8:53 pm

have a ym240d with yanmar loader and backhoe. Used loader with no issue, parked it for 2 days and now having problems with loader. When started loader very weak, making jerking lift motions as if hydraulic fluid was low and sucking air. Fluid is at proper fill and clear, no foaming. All lines appear intact. as unit warmed will barely lift loader from ground. when cooled will raise a few feet, not full height. any ideas on where to start?

Have you checked/cleaned your internal suction screen? It could also be the rubber coupler in the suction hose is cracked and sucking air.

sounds like we have identical units. I think you should check the hydraulic oil filter screen under the triangular cover. Its held on by 3 bolts and if the loader is a Yanmar the loader frame curves to allow access. If everything there is clean and free I'd check everything connection on the system for quality (cracks etc) but also to ensure they are tight. Have an eye open anywhere on the system for signs of seepage or leaks. If it was operating fine and suddenly there is an issue it'll likely be one thing and on mine, these are the first two on the list of things to check. Good luck! Loaders are wonderful: when they're working.
