New SA424 rear PTO noisey when engaged

Postby farmlife2018 » Tue Sep 01, 2020 7:39 pm

Hi and thanks in advance for listening to my question.
We own a SA424 Yanmar with 337 hours we got it new two years ago. A month ago the rear PTO shaft broke while mulching some twigs. (I had noticed a couple weeks earlier that the shaft seemed to spin eggy) The dealer came and picked the tractor up because it was under warranty (not the pick up and delivery part that cost alot) Today I got the tractor back and when I turn the rear PTO on it seems very noisey other then that it seems to be fine. I can not remember for the life of me if it sounded like that before it broke so I wanted to ask others if their PTO seems noisy when turned on at idle. Since I usually wear ear protection I can not tell if it sounds normal or not.

Thanks again, hope you can help.

Not at all familiar with your SA424 but my experience has been that all pto's normally run quietly unless there is a problem. I am assuming we are talking about the tractor pto noise and not the noise that might be coming from a mower or implement.
