Hour meter

Postby GBuford4372 » Thu Aug 20, 2020 3:05 pm

Just put of curiosity, does the hr meter show hours in black and tenths in white? Or is the white the hour as well. My tractor is showing 277 in black and 4 in white. Thing is, it's moving. When I got it, it was 276 something. It's hard to believe that it's only got 277 hrs on it. Or does that mean 2774 hrs?

Your hours could be 1277, 2177, 3177, etc. I would doubt 277.

Not following. How could my hours be 1277 when my hour meter reads 277 black and a 4 in white

Your reading is 277.4 hours. Once your meter reaches 999.9 hours it rolls over and starts at 000.0. Just like older model automobiles used to do at 99999.9 miles.

Ok, my bad, I was understanding a 4 digit tach which some models have. I would still doubt 277 hours on a 40 year old tractor. It is possible and it may also be possible the reading has been run back.
