F14D mystery line

Postby Beecrazy » Mon Jul 20, 2020 9:33 pm

I am servicing and replacing the fan belt and after I got off the old belt I notice a wire wrapped line with an unconnected end. A similar type line (lower line) goes back to the fuel filter. The unconnected end is dirty and the inside edge looks like it’s got red overspray. The line is maybe two feet long and seems to be directed to underneath the engine. I looked and felt around and can’t seem to see where or if it connects to anything. The photo is the connected end on the right front on the engine. My question is...is this a vent hose or does it connect somewhere?

Looks like a bleed line to me. Maybe loosen the hex nut to allow air to bleed out the unattached hose? No fact here, just guessing!

Winston is right (as usual :) ) except they are push-button bleeders. Just press the button to bleed the air. The regular old bleed screw was much too simple and reliable :D

Thanks, I’m slowly figuring out this tractor. It does what I need it to do, just seems to have mysterious behaviors when it comes to the idiot lights. Replacing the belt changed the “charge light” behavior, it flitters more before going out. I’m not sure if the belt is tight enough, going to run it for an hour or so and adjust it, if needed. At least I should be able to get a decent test the alternator.
