YM2000B Trans/Hydraulic Filter Screen Help

Postby farsidejunky » Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:25 pm

After draining the trans/hydraulic fluid, I pulled the filter screen for cleaning, and it had a few small tears. I had one as a back up, and when I compared the two, there are enough differences for me to seek outside help before installing this aftermarket screen. Dimensions are the same on both the screen and the base plate.

Differences:

1. The old screen was held together by a nylon lock nut, and further secured by a cotter pin through the stud. The new one has three flimsy tabs that hold it together at the base plate.

2. The old one has two o-rings; one in the exact same place as the new one, and one closer to the base plate. It appears the second o-ring is for sealing the system, but I could be wrong. This brings me to 3.

3. No gasket on the base plate. Should it have had one? I see it available from Hoye parts, but this tractor did not have one.

Images below. Thanks in advance for any clarification you can lend.

Mods: I can't seem to get the image tags to work so I included the links. Sorry if that is not okay.

Looks to me like the new one should work. I do think you need this gasket instead of the second o-ring. https://www.hoyetractor.com/PROD/194150-42340.htm

It looks like you got it figured out on the other message board but just in case someone else stumbles onto this post later on

1)- There were 2 styles used. The through bolt style is no longer available but the style we sell will fit all versions. The tab just holds the assembly together for installation. Once you put the screen in the tractor it cant go anywhere (locked in place by internal castings).

2)- It should go in just as you received it. Only one oring.

3)- You will need the correct gasket in Winstons link or a thin film of gasket-in-a-tube.

Thanks for following up. I bought some gasket material and made my own. Everything is back together, working well, with no leaks. Thanks for the help!
