YM 186 Rod End Cap Bolt Torque Specs.

I am trying to verify the rod end cap bolt torque specs. Seems to be some conflicting info. One tech manual info states approx 16-20 ft lbs, other one 32-34 ft lbs approx. or a combination of both. I plasti gauged at 20ft lbs and got a .002 tolerance on all 3 cylinders which is in middle of tolerance (.001 to .003). Some info says to plasti gauge at the lower reading to check tolerance then use higher setting for final torque. Any ideas on the correct specs would be appreciated, Thanks HRtull

The original Yanmar manual says 16.6-20.2 ft/lbs. I always think it is funny that they give such precise torque numbers... but in a range spanning several ft/lbs. 16.6 to 20.2? Why not just say 17 to 20 or better yet why not just 18?

Thanks Aaron, Setting them at 20ft lbs . Sounds like those numbers came from a slide rule from back when. HRtull
