Re: Another newb question...wet sleeve removal

Yes mine looks similar to that except it uses a stand that sits on top of the block and 3 arms to latch onto the end of the liner at the bottom. Maybe I just need to shire down on it a little more.

Re: Ym1500 crankshaft

I took a better look at it this evening. It's not scuffed, it's just that the edges of the journal were stained from sludgey oil and where the bearings ride were shiney and clean. Cleaned with parts cleaner and no scratches or marks at all. Although I'm still wondering about the hair line crack in t...

Re: Ym1500 crankshaft

Great thanks. And no the crack is actually down in the crank case. It's on the side of the block..but on the insde, not the outside. It appears to be a surface crack on the rough surface maybe from the the sand casting mold they used to cast the block. Like I said it doesn't got through to the other...

Ym1500 crankshaft

I have the engine tore down (in frame). A broken piston was the reason for oil consumption. I have all parts ordered. Putting all new pistons, sleeves, rings, rod bearings. The crankshaft, I noticed when I cleaned it up, has slight wear marks where the rod bearings ride. Nothing that catches a finge...

Re: Ym1500 torque spec's and info

Thanks Winston. Have it tore down and low and behold...broke piston. The section between the top ring and second ring was broke in two places so that peice was just kinda flopping around in between those two rings. One ring was also broke. Everything else was in pretty great condition. That explains...

Ym1500 torque spec's and info

Well I'm finally about to start tearing the engine down in my 1500. It has been burning oil for long enough. I need a big favor if anyone is willing to help. I'm going to do an inframe kit with pistons at the very minimum, so I am about to make a big ticket purchase from hoye this week for this old ...

YM1500 oil pressure gauge fitting size

I have a Ym1500 that I'm finally about to tear down and figure out why it's burning oil. I want to check the oil pressure before I do so. It sure would suck to throw a set of rings, rod bearings and pistons in it only to find out it has no oil pressure. Here's the deal, Im wanting to tear down this ...

Re: Ym1500 burning oil??

I'm going to adjust valves this weekend. If that doesn't clear it up I'm going to do an in frame. And have the head completely rebuilt and machined. Iv thought about it all day and come spring I have a 6 acre pasture to keep up with it and some disking and fertilizing. So i might as well go ahead an...

Re: Ym1500 burning oil??

Yes it's not that bad. Would you recommend going ahead and doing an in frame rebuild. Or just run it like it is and keep a check on the oil? This thing looks pretty simple to work on and I've rebuilt gas engines before but never messed with a diesel engine. I took the oil pan off to fix a leak when ...
