Re: Yanmar 1610 Head Gasket Replacement Thread

im definitely no expert, but if it were me, I would look at getting the head checked for flatness by a machine shop, with proper gear. Having done a head gasket replacement twice now, the first time by using a straight edge to check the mating surface, I can assure you its no fun bolting it all back...

Re: 1700D blowby and shutdown

what about the exhaust manifold? Maybe the blockage is back a bit further than the muffler?

1610D rear hydraulics query?

Hi Guys, have just fitted a post hole digger to my 1610, (designed for small tractors), and due to the leverage caused by the distance the implement is from the tractor, the hydraulics are struggling a bit with the weight, to the point that I doubt they will pull the auger out of the ground once its...

Re: Overheating/blowing oil out of exhaust stack

I ran mine for some months without over heating with a blown head gasket, just kept getting more and more soot in the coolant. Don't recommend doing it though.

Re: 1610d new issues

bubbles in the expansion tank was what my 1610d had before I did the HG. Also had soot appear in the coolant after a while.

Re: YM1510D Bubbles in coolant overflow tank

I had the head machined and valves and seals done, put it all back together and no problems since. I was just pointing out that if your going to replace the head gasket its probably cheap insurance to get the head machined, saves doing the job twice. just my opinion.

Re: YM1510D Bubbles in coolant overflow tank

that's exactly what mine did the first time, blew the lid off the coolant reservoir and emptied all the coolant. I replaced the head gasket without getting the head machined and it just blew a constant stream of small bubbles and would fill the radiator and coolant overflow with black sooty scum.

Head retorque, only the once?

Hi, I have just done a head gasket replacement after getting the head on my 1610D machined and rebuilt, and have run it for a couple of hours now with no issues and retorqued to spec with no discernible movement of the head bolts when I did so. My question is, is re-torquing the bolts once enough? t...

Re: Head gasket replacement - how to?

Thanks for this, just doing mine today (again),and its been a big help. What method did you use to clean the block surface without getting all the gasket material down the coolant passages, bolt holes etc... Thanks.

Re: Injector pump??

I did as instructed back when I posted this and the engine has been running fine ever since, done approx. 30 hours. However, yesterday the same noise suddenly occurred complete with black smoke, so I shut the engine down. When I tried to restart about half an hour later she was hydrolocked, the engi...

Re: yanmar 1500 hydraulics

did this on my 1610 today ,find your tranny drain plug, (the lowest bolt on the transmission), then on the left hand side of the housing, you will see a triangular plate with three 10mm bolts. Even though you have drained the transmission via the drain, you will get a heap more fluid once you releas...

Injector pump??

was moving some topsoil today in 1610d, and suddenly had a loud "clacking" sound from the motor, similar to the normal diesel rattle but louder accompanied by black smoke from the exhaust. Engine kept running fine as I drove it into the shed and switched it off. Noise was still there when ...
