Re: 187D Starter

It's a heavy piece to take to an electric shop, especially when they might tell you there's nothing wrong with it. Check the wiring and especially the connections. And the clutch-pedal cutout. Next, a remote starter can be handy for diagnosing (I've described this low-cost device in a number of post...

Re: Frozen Hydraulics on 186d

Since the fluid is the right kind, right amount, and free of water, I'm puzzled because a system blockage or pump failure is rare, especially if intermittent. And it's complex, equipment-needing, and potentially dangerous to try to diagnose a hydraulic fault. But you could sniff the fluid for a burn...

Thanks for the nice photos. He did this rather than fix the front drive?

If the lever doesn't slip easily back to 2, drive a few feet in the opposite direction from the last drive to release any lockup pressure.

Re: Ready to call the scrap guy

If I remember right it's a 1700. If you can't fix it and have storage space, there's enough 1700s around to make it worthwhile to part out, but not enough that owners can find them in scrap yards.

Re: Fuel additive

You can get them but I wouldn't use a dump-in additive or especially a spray-in chemical. If you're using fuel you've stored since last summer, most suppliers provide slightly different seasonal formulations. Diesels need a fast spin. Is the battery strong enough? If there's a decompression control,...

Re: Frozen Hydraulics on 186d

When you look down the fill hole, is the fluid level within a couple inches from the top? If you draw a sample, does it look milky?

Re: guessing actual hours

The hours might be low because the Japanese are acculturated to dispose of worn equipment (if your car or truck doesn't look new, you can't get a licence renewal), and rice farmers got a govt incentive to trade in their equipment. Their Yellow Pages have big ads mainly for cars but also trucks and t...

Re: Need Dropbox (transfer case) for 2210D

If someone could tell you what export model is the equivalent (226D?), you could contact the nearest tractor salvage yard. (They can put out a call for who has either model.)

Re: Need Dropbox (transfer case) for 2210D

If it's just a worn fork in there, you could get a machine shop to make you another.

Re: front loader alignment

There's no adjustment but I wouldn't use it if there were. I've had a two-inch wonk for a decade (frame rupture -- don't ask). Doesn't affect operation except to make it handier, because when I want to take out a thin slice of turf or get the cutting edge under a heavy flat object, I use the lower s...

Re: YANMAR 2420D 3PH VALVE

At first I thought the Deere photo was of the tractor front (which puzzled me) until I realized it showed the Deere FILTER. Maybe a filter is a filter but I understand (perhaps wrongly) that when Deere contracted Yanmar to make some of its models they specified that only Deere filters would work (so...

Re: 1500 weak front axle?

My impression (and that's all it is) is this. Yanmars are engineered for the Japanese market, largely for paddy-frothing where FELs (front loaders) are so rare that I never saw one when I was there. Here, FELs are common. Don't install a subframe, load the bucket to max, drive over bumps, and the fr...
